The first National Lodge Isla Victoria, inaugurated in 1946, was for years the ideal "place" in Argentina for honeymooners or romantic trips of Buenos Aires. Unfortunately, the wooden lodge burned down in 1982, and all that was left was the stone foundation at the top of a cliff overlooking Anchorena Bay. The new Victoria Island National Lodge was designed in the same architectural style as the original lodge and built on the same site. The new lodge has a wood and steel structure and is more modern and spacious than the original.Facing the afternoon sun, the bay, the lake, and the Andean peaks, the lodge's terrace offers the most amazing view in all of Patagonia. The large windows in the dining and living rooms sit almost at the height of flying seagulls.Nahuel Huapi National Park is the oldest and most important national park in Argentina. Nahuel Huapi Lake, covering 557 square kilometers (215 sq. miles), is the most outstanding feature of the park. Inside, you will find intimate corners, such as a wine cellar where you can taste the best Argentinean wines, or you might seek retreat in the Andean bar. The Patagonian-Mediterranean cuisine itself is worth the trip to the island.In addition, there is a small spa and sun deck with a sauna and heated swimming pool-a whole secluded world on an island in the far south. Two meeting rooms with seating for 40 people offer enough space for small business meetings in an exceptionally safe and private location.All rooms combine the same taste for luxury and comfort that characterizes a "hotel boutique", with the informal atmosphere of a high Patagonian retreat.
